Established in 2014 and affiliated with the University of Calicut, the Department of Psychology was founded to meet the growing demand for quality undergraduate education in psychology and to foster a deep understanding of human behavior and its relevance to society. Over the years, the department has evolved into a center of academic excellence, successfully graduating ten batches of students, from the pioneer 2014–17 batch to the recent 2022–25 batch. More than 75% of our alumni have progressed to become professional psychologists, lecturers, researchers, or have pursued advanced postgraduate and doctoral studies across India.

In alignment with contemporary educational paradigms, the department has adopted the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP), transforming traditional undergraduate education into a flexible, multidisciplinary, skill-oriented, and research-focused learning experience. The programme equips students with critical thinking abilities, ethical sensitivity, scientific temper, and practical competencies necessary for understanding human behavior and addressing contemporary psychological challenges.

The department is supported by a fully equipped Psychology Laboratory featuring advanced instruments and standardized psychological testing materials for assessment, experimentation, and research. Experiential learning is promoted through academic seminars, expert lectures, workshops, film screenings, field visits, community outreach programmes, and internships in mental health and social service settings. Students also benefit from add-on courses, mentoring programmes, remedial support systems, and a dedicated Counselling Cell that foster both academic and personal growth.
